Missing the holiday sun? A late break in Salema will help you escape the back to school blues!
What a sunny summer it’s been! Whether you see it as a positive or negative, seasons come and go! Right now, in the UK, the days are getting shorter and the summer holiday tan is already a distant memory for many. Kids are back at school; the sun has gone into hiding and everything is just looking a bit……. grey.
But we say – don’t despair; the sun is still shining in Salema, Portugal! With a great record for warm, sunny, late summer and early autumn weather, it’s the perfect time of year to explore Salema and the beautiful Western Algarve, especially while enjoying a luxury villa holiday.
Under three hours’ flight time from the UK, Salema makes a great first impression. Salema boasts a soft sandy beach sloping gently into the crystal-clear sea that is such a feature of this famously unspoilt coastline.
If you want to get active, pull on your walking boots to explore the footpaths on the doorstep of our Salema villas; the variety of scenery in and around Salema will take your breath away. The Western Algarve is truly an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Meander through the narrow streets of medieval towns such as Lagos, get up close and personal with the local agriculture or marvel at the iconic rock formations that can’t fail to bring out your inner landscape photographer. Better still, for a truly privileged access to the stunning Algarve coastline, join a sea kayak or boat tour. Just make sure the camera is waterproof!
Salema = genuine
If authentic Portugal is what you’re looking for, you’re in the right place. Salema is a typical fishing village with fisherman’s cottages lining the narrow, cobbled streets that lead down to the beach. Why not stop off each morning to watch the fishermen sort their daily catch of sardines, octopus and sea bream en route to a warm Algarve welcome at a traditional Portuguese cafe for your daily breakfast pastel de nata?
The village of Salema is small but not too small. It has the facilities and elegance you’d expect of an Algarve holiday resort, but you’ll find your Euro stretches that little bit further here. Plus, Salema has remained unspoilt and, well, just charming…
Salema’s Blue Flag beach isn’t pounded by surf, if that’s what you want you’ll find it a short drive away around the Sagres area, for example, at Arrifana beach. Salema makes it the perfect place for your sunshade, deckchair and to enjoy the luxury of your own private swimming pool and stunning beach views. In the late summer, Salema is a haven of peace and quiet; the ideal location for a bit of R ‘n’ R in the Algarve.
